Notes:
I know, I know, yes, this is made by machine. But truth
is that at one time this brand was a premium hand rolled
job, and presumably the same blend is being used now.
I verified the identical bands on the original hand rolled
product and the machine rolled. Currently a product of
Tabacalaria de Espana.
This is a 100% tobacco product, no sheet tobaccos or
additives, so this is not King Edward. These are perhaps
the best cheapie you can find. They are mild-bodied, with
a straightforward classic yet somewhat complex flavor,
earthy, slightly leathery, hints of creaminess.
A winner for what I like to call "bite vs. flavor"
ratio. I like cigars that do not irritate the throat or
burn the nostrils. Don't bite me. Often cigars this mild,
if you can find them, lack in robust flavor. VF packs
super flavor while retaining that smoothness and wonderful
aroma.
Your clothes will barely smell. A butt in your ashtray
will barely be detectable unless its right under your
nose. I have only tried the panatela, as I like em that
size. The Indonesian wrappers are almost a maduro color,
and very uniform. Unbeatable from an economic standpoint,
one huge cigar seller has prices on these so cheap, you
could be scared away.
Reviews of the hand rolled version were unvariably positive,
although I hadn't tried them. These are my regular daily
smoke. I smoke inside and the wife never complains. My
home does not reek of "that smell". There seems
to be little residual odor after the smoke clears, after
a coupla days of not smoking indoors, you can't tell I
burn these babies almost daily in my living room.
I am not ashamed to say that I prefer these to many primo
brands. I love it when a big name popular primo doesn't
hit the spot like Vega Fina, that makes em even more enjoyable.
Especially when they cost way, way, way under a buck apiece.
