Notes:
This cigar was a gift from
my very generous friend Ken
Morris. I say generous because
these things average about $10
a piece.
Ken told me he got these from
Milan
Tobacconists an establishment
out of Roanoke, Virginia that
from what I understand is one
of the oldest cigar shops in
the country. Check them out
if you get a chance.
Anyway, Ken knows his cigars,
he's given me several over the
years and he's not an unbanded,
bundle kind of guy so when he
drops off a stick for me to
try I know it's gonna be good.
The Oliva Master Blends 3 Torpedo
from here on out known as the
OMB3T was no exception. I've
had many Oliva cigars and while
some have been better than others
for the most part they put out
a top quality product.
This bad boy was constructed
perfectly, solid and firm. The
wrapper was quite smooth and
although it was not oily it
did have a nice sheen to it.
It lit easily with an easy
but solid draw that gave up
lots of thick, rich smoke. The
ash was solid as well and bright
white.
This I'd have to call a stronger
cigar. It's nowhere near mild
but it won't knock you on your
ass either, unless this is your
first time.
The flavor was tricky as it
changed a couple of times. It
has a definite coffee flavor
running through it that changes
to a faint spice and chocolate
as you wind your way though.
It's a big stick at 6 X 52
and it burns nice and slow.
Mine lasted just over an hour
so don't fire up one of these
unless you have the time to
really pay attention and enjoy
it.
You can pay more and you can
pay less. At $10 each I would
not call this an "Everyday"
cigar. But if you have the cash
and more importantly the time
to really sit and experience
a cigar, this one would be pretty
close to the top of my list.
Thanks Ken!
