The Cigar Renaissance:
Although this cigar has a rustic appearance, this cigar
draws well and burns even producing a solid white ash.
It has a core of spiciness, a sweet wood note, and a hint
of coffee-bean taste.

Notes:
This is the first "premium" box of cigars I
ever bought. These are huge cigars. They smoke for well
over and hour and a half. Smooth, thick medium flavor.
Long solid ash.
It takes a lot of research from a good many sources to
put a site like this together. I take great pains to and
be as accurate as possible.
Recently I received the two
emails below that helped to set the record straight on
this line of cigars. It was an honor and a privilege to
have been the recipient of this information. Read on:

Sir,
The 'Farach' marque was founded by my maternal grandfather
in the seaport of Caibarien (Las Villas Province, Cuba)
in the early 1920s (not 1903) to give employment to a
sickly brother. Francisco Farach (my maternal great-uncle)
opened another house using his name, later in the 20s.
This is the one that lasted until 1959 in Habana. Both
my grandfather and great-uncle were gentlemen, and the
cigar business was more of a diversion or charitable enterprise,
as trade was considered vulgar.
Yours.

After receiving the first email
from Mr Mendez y Farach, I emailed him back and asked
his permission to post his thoughts. Here is his reply.

Of course you may use my e-mail as you wish - I am glad
to learn that it was of some interest to you. I am very
much afraid that a great deal of the information available
on the pre-1959 marques is coloured by crass, commercial
considerations, or the ideological inclinations of the
writers. Of course, much of the information on the current,
state-owned-factory products is similarly suspect, as
a great deal of money is in question.
Yours.
Albert Mendez y Farach
