Habana Gold Churchill
- White Label
Origin: Honduras
Size: 7.00 X 52
Wrapper: Natural
From
the House of Oxford:
A few years ago, during the 'boom, this was a very hot
brand. There were 3 different choices of color, with 7
or 8 sizes in each color. A retailer could have filled
his humidor with nothing but different styles of Habana
Gold. Well, like many other brands, this one did not survive
the shakeout of the last few years, and we were able to
acquire the rights to the name, along with all of the
inventory that was left. At $80 per box, this brand did
not do well - but at $25 per box of 25, we think that
it deserves at least one spot in the humidor.

Notes:
The cigar band on this cigar was white with gold trim
and lettering. Before lighting, it was nondescript. Also,
due to my lighting, it began to run a bit, but straighten
out on its own and kept an even burn the rest of the cigar
down to the nub, yes nub. I smoked the whole cigar in
about an hour and 10 minutes, not rushing it. The strength
was between mild and medium. The flavor was Dominican,
but had something else I couldn't put my finger on. Flavor
stayed true the whole smoke and never got harsh on me.
This would be a great two dollar smoke. It didn't "slap
me in the face" impress me, but was a consistent
burn with consistent flavor thru out.

Notes:
I've smoked all three labels of this cigar, I liked the
Sterling (silver) label the best, but found all three
to be pretty good smokes. This one was on the mild side.
But it was quite flavorful. Great construction, that delivered
a good even burn and a solid ash.
What I find most interesting about this cigar is all
the press. For example in the course of looking for an
image of the label, I found two other sites that make
the same claim as the House of Oxford above, regarding
acquiring the rights to the name. Oxford is right though
at around 25 bux a box you should not pass on these. And
25-35 bux is about what you'll pay for them just about
anywhere.
But like anywhere else, the cigar industry has it's scumbags,
and Cigarstash is one of them. As I write this they have
the balls to ask, $149.16 a box for these things. Go check
out the site (for a good laugh) but buy nothing from these
bastards. You might shoot them an email and ask them why
their Habana Golds are six times as much as everyone else's.
I love doing that.
