Astral
Grandee
Origin: Honduras
Size: 6.50X 50
Wrapper: Natural
From:
TBS-Cigars:
More than three years of planning
went into the production of
this brand, introduced in 1995
and made in Danli, Honduras.
Mild-to-medium in body, the
Connecticut-seed wrappers give
this line an elegant appearance,
with silky expresso and cream
flavors. The maduro line features
a Mexican wrapper and is quite
full-bodied.

Notes:
I'm usually not a big fan of
Astral Cigars but I've got to
admit this one was quite tasty.
It's called a Grandee and it
is pretty significant in size
weighing in at 6.50 X 50. It
has a tapered foot which I guess
makes it a torpedo (Which is
what they should call it)
The construction was perfect,
solid and smooth. Although the
wrapper is in fact a natural
wrapper it did have a slight
hint of light green to it.
I got this cigar in a sampler
from TBS-Cigars
last September so this stick
has had some time to rest. I
was perfectly ready to be disappointed
but I wasn't.
The cigar burned slow and even
throughout. The ash was solid
and light gray. The flavor (and
I hate to say this but) had
a slight hint of leather to
it.
Now TBS-Cigars
describes this stick as mild
- medium. Maybe it's because
I like the stronger smokes that
I'm going to say it is definitely
a mild cigar but it was perfect
for sitting by the pool and
reading a book which is exactly
what I was doing.
Overall I think this is a good
smoke, especially for a mid-day
or morning. For me it would
not do for after dinner for
you it might.
