Trinidad Corona
Origin: Dominican Republic
Size: 5.0 X 44
Wrapper: Natural
From
JR Cigar:
Expertly handcrafted in the
Dominican Republic's southern
city of La Romana, the TTT Trinidad
is a full-bodied gem of a cigar.
At its core is a robust recipe
of aged Nicaraguan, Dominican,
and Peruvian long-filler tobaccos
secured by a stout broadleaf
binder and finished with a choice
Ecuadorian Sumatran sun-grown
wrapper. The result is a lush,
dense smoke for the seasoned
cigar connoisseur. The hearty,
boisterous flavors and more
than ample body of the Trinidad
are certain to assure your smoking
satisfaction.

Notes:
I think this might have been
the first non-Cuban Trinidad
I've smoked. The Cuban
Fundadore is fantastic so
I really didn't know what to
expect from it's Dominican brother.
Starting off it was well built,
smooth and solid but it had
the biggest vein running through
it I've ever seen. I thought
it might have burn problems
because of it but it didn't.
The first half inch was a little
uneven but it settled in nicely.
The pre-light aroma had a vegetable
scent to it. The draw was not
easy but not hard either. I
think it could have given up
a little more smoke but it really
wasn't a big deal.
The initial flavor had a touch
of spice and was a little floral.
Then suddenly about a third
of the way through the touch
of spice turned into a distinct
cinnamon flavor and then as
I headed down the home stretch
with the last third it returned
to the milder more generic spice
flavor.
The cigar lasted almost 40
minutes which I think is pretty
good for a little guy. Overall
it was a really good smoke.
I don't know where I got this
one but date on it was 2002
so I know it had had enough
'dor time. It was hard to find
info on this stick as most people
do not carry them. I surprised
to find the quote above on JR's
site. And by the way the
image is also from JR's and
that's exactly what it looked
like, notice the vein in the
image.
As for the price the seem to
average about $100 a box of
20 although if you surf long
enough you can find a couple
of sites that have them for
closer to $200. So do your homework.
