Montecristo Double
Corona
Origin: Dominican Republic
Size: 6.25 X 50
Wrapper: Natural
From
Cigar Bank:
Montecristo cigars have a beautiful Connecticut shade
wrapper with Cuban seed binder and filler. Montecristo
cigars offer excellent construction and a medium bodied
flavor.

A new local shop here is selling these for $5 out the
door so I figured I'd grab a couple and give em a shot.
Appearance & Construction - 14/15
The one thing I have to give these cigars is that they
look beautiful. The wrapper is smooth with hardly a vein
and silky to the touch. The cap is also impressive. Also,
the 6.25 x 50 size of the cigar is perfect for me.
Flavor - 20/25
This cigar didn't do much for me in the flavor department.
It tasted of balsa wood and sweet cream. Dry at times.
Too mild for my taste.
Smoking Characteristics - 21/25
The cigar lit with no problem and had a fine draw, producing
huge volumes of smoke, which is a plus in my book. I did
however, have some burn issues and even some tunneling
towards the end which was surprising but annoying none
the less.
Overall - 31/35
This cigar is just too mild for my taste. If I had not
had the burn issues it would have been a much better cigar
in my book, and maybe a good one to keep in the humidor
for a milder change of pace. I plan on leaving the remaining
cigars in the humi for a few months and seeing if that
helps them improve all around. All in all, a good mild
cigar to start with if you don't have burn issues but,
may prove too expensive to be a starting cigar for a new
smoker.
