Macanudo Portofino
Robust
Origin: Dominican Republic
Size: 7.00 X 34
Wrapper: Connecticut Shade (E)
From
TBS-Cigars:
Introduced in its current form in the United States in
1971, this is an exceptionally consistent cigar, made
with Connecticut Shade wrappers that have been aged for
at least three years. The cigar has a silky feel to the
hand and has a taste which is only found in a Macanudo.
The maduro line was introduced in 1999 and offers a full-bodied,
smooth taste in the most popular shapes. The Robust line
was Introduced in 1998. It was the “buzz”
of the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America trade show. The
blend was re-made for 2003, with a full-bodied flavor
thanks to a dark Connecticut Shade wrapper and Connecticut
Broadleaf wrapper.

Notes:
Macanudo is not one of my favorite brands. It's not that
they are bad cigars they're not. It's just they are too
mild for me.
This is the "stronger" version of this line
and it's still very mild. The cigar itself was fine. It
burned well with a nice draw. I really like the size,
7.00 X 34 which makes it a cool smoke anyway but as far
as flavor it's pretty flat.
Now that being said let's keep in mind that these things
sell for about five bucks each. If you really like the
Macanudos then I think a much better deal is the Old
Fashioned #350 which are seconds of the regular Mac
Portofino. The OF350's go for about 20 bucks a bundle.
Now that's a deal.
I bought a bundle about two years ago, laid them down
for a year and they were great. Maybe these Macs just
need more time or maybe I'll just buy myself another bundle
of the 350's.
