Wrapper: Connecticut Maduro
From
Fuller's Pullers:
Our quest for the very best boutique cigars
continues with Estavan Cruz. Originally produced
by Tabacalera Tambor (of Bahia fame), the brand
has since moved to the Dominican Republic,
where they've fine-tuned it a bit. Under the
Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro or Ecuador Sun
Grown Natural Wrapper is a binder from Ecuador
and a blend of Ligero Tobacco from Nicaragua,
Olor from Dominican Republic, and a small amount
of Brazilian Mata Fina. Both the Maduro and
Natural are medium-to-full bodied cigars. The
Maduro starts out cedary, gradually picking
up notes of dark chocolate and espresso. The
Natural also starts out cedary but develops
complexities of spice and earth as the strength
builds.

Notes:
I first received one of these as a gift or
a prize in a contest. The first thing that
struck me was the look. It looks like a big
fat mini torpedo. The wrapper was shiny and
jet-black. It just looked like a killer little
smoke. Once I fired it up I was not disappointed.
This thing smoked even better than it looked.
Tons of thick rich creamy smoke. A bit of a
pepper / chocolate kinda flavor going on. I
smoked it until I burned my fingers. If this
had been twenty years ago I'd have had a roach
clip and I could have taken a couple more hits!
After that I was hooked and had to have more.
I bought a box from an outfit called Cigars
24/7 for $100.00. Not cheap for a little smoke
but they come in a box of 40. And to me they
are worth every penny.
When you've only got about 15 minutes and
you want a cigar that will truly kick your
ass, this is the one.
