It was back in 1991 when Stanford Newman first discussed his DIAMOND CROWN idea with Carlos Fuente Sr. In celebration of his M & N Cigar Company's upcoming 100th Anniversary, Stanford wanted to develop a truly exceptional series of cigars - unlike any other on the market. He didn't care what it would cost, how much time it took, or even whether or not it would sell. Stanford Newman was in his mid 70's and his company was approaching it's 100th Anniversary . Creating the smoothest, most flavorful, full bodied cigar possible was just something Stanford Newman wanted to do. The larger ring (54), allowing for the blending of 6-7 individual tobacco leaves, would assure the maximum flavor of each cigar. What truly makes the taste of DIAMOND CROWN cigars so special is its exclusive five year aged CFW (Connecticut Fermented Wrapper ).

Notes:

This was a gift from a web design client. I let it sit for almost three months before I smoked it. I knew nothing about it until I sat down to write this review and did a little research. I'm not surprised that it's made by Fuente. This hefty torpedo was perfect in every way. The construction was flawless. The burn smooth and even. The easy draw produced tons of thick rich smoke that was creamy and flavorful. I'd say that this cigar was on the strong side of medium. It wasn't mild but it was not a kick ass stick either. Rich is the word that keeps coming to mind. Overall very satisfying. I'd smoke more. However these things are not cheap, they come in boxes of 15 which sucks, and the #7's run about $210.00 a box. That sounds like about $14.00 a piece to me. When I get into that price range I start to think Cuban. Still a really good cigar.
