The Trinidad Fundadores are not the cheapest cigars to
have ever come out of Cuba - but then when did excellence
ever come cheap? Their origins, like that of many legends,
remains obscure - it seems that one morning in 1969 they
appeared out of the Atlantic mists of Cuba and miraculously
materialised into a Cuban icon. An icon, moreover, that
was not for sale at any price - up until 1998 the Trinidad
Fundadores were not available in retail outlets. Some
say that they were made exclusively for the personal use
of Fidel Castro and as gifts to foreign heads of state.
Whilst it is true that they were used as diplomatic gifts
of the Cuban government it is not quite true that they
were a personal favourite of Fidel Castro. El Presidente,
before he gave up smoking, preferred Cohiba Lanceros -
click here if you doubt us. What is true is that since
their introduction onto the general market in 1998 the
Trinidad Fundadores have taken one big step onto the Habanos
podium reserved for classics. Their appearance is similar
to that of the Cohiba Lancero and, uniquely for Habanos
cigars, they are packaged in boxes of 24 as opposed to
25.

Notes:
Quite simply, the greatest cigar I have ever smoked in
my life...bar none. That is a pretty big statement. And
I've smoked a lot of "greatest smoke ever" cigars.
But it will take nothing short of a miracle to best this
smoke.
It's long and lean and burns forever. The draw is perfect.
The smoke is thick and rich, familiar yet like nothing
I've ever experienced.
My good friend and fellow Village Idiot Dennis Langdon
told me about these cigars just before I left on a trip
to Europe. So I did a little research and once in Zurich,
I found them.
At over $30.00 EACH they were a little intimidating.
But being on vacation I threw common sense to the wind
and purchased a few. Two for Dennis and one for me. With
instant gratification as my vacation motto, I fired mine
up as soon as I returned to the hotel.
The cigar was everything it had been touted to be and
more.
The cigar burned for well over an hour. It changed flavors
at least four times but it never got hot, harsh or bitter,
not even as I sucked on the last 1/4 inch of it.
The cigar was so amazing, the next day I went out and
bought five more. This time I stashed four and fired up
the fifth immediately. It too was unbelievable.
The remaining four made it back to the USA. But were
smoked within just a few weeks. Every single one without
exception ranked as: "THE GREATEST CIGAR I HAVE EVER
SMOKED"
My advice; spend the money, no matter what the price,
buy some, buy lots of them, get your hands on one of these
and soon.
If you're new to cigars you may not appreciate just how
good this cigar is, but don't let that stop you - buy
some! And if you've been a cigar lover for a while, forget
everything you know about cigars, smoke one of these and
start over. They are that good!!
And to my friend Dennis out in Indiana...a thousand THANKS
!!!!
