Bolivar
Royal Coronas
Origin: Cuba
Size: 4 7/8 X 50
Wrapper: Natural
Pablamos
Cigars:
Bolivar cigars were first produced by the Jose Roche Cuban
Cigar Company in 1901. They were named after Generalissimo
Simon Bolivar, "El Libertador" of Venezuela,
Colombia, Peru, Panama and Bolivia from their Spanish
colonial masters. Bolivar cigars are usually described
as not being for the novice since their strong, full-bodied
strength is simply going to overpower the beginner. What
is our advice? Try a Bolivar por favor. Be bold, like
the General they are named after. It is only by experimenting
with the full range of Habanos cigars, indeed the full
range of cigars from all over the world, that you are
going to find out what you personally like and don't like.
As for the cigars, you have probably gathered from this
that they are of a strong nature, idiosyncratic and robust.
Try one and make your own mind up.

Notes:
This was my first Bolivar cigar.
$20.95 Canadian, reasonable
price. The Corona burned well
with a firm draw (just right)
that produced huge volumes of
smoke. Tasted of good Cuban
dirt, full bodied the way a
good cigar should taste. This
Bolivar will become a staple
Havana in my humidor. I gave
it 7 out of 10.

Notes:
I have to agree with the summary above. Now everyone
loves the Monte Cristo #2, as do I, but the Bolivar Royal
Coronas is my most favorite Cuban cigar. And they cost
about half the price of a Monte #2. I've smoked many of
these and have never once been disappointed. It is a very
strong, yet flavorful smoke. No hint of cherry mist bullshit,
just pure tobacco. I try to keep a few on hand at all
times.
