Introduced in 1901, the powerful flavour of the Bolivar
range is almost as widely known as it's namesake, Simon
Bolivar (1783-1830), the celebrated Venezuelan warrior
who liberated all or part of what today is Venezuela,
Columbia, Peru and Bolivia. The cigar brand was developed
by the Jose Fernandez Roig, was trademarked in 1921 and
was made by J.F. Roig y Cia, until nationalization. This
is a full bodied and tasty cigar. For beginners, a heavy
cigar like Bolivar is not a good choice. Machine-made
varieties are not as strong as hand-rolled ones.

Notes:
I've smoked quite a few of these over the past couple
of years. They are good cigars. My major complaint is
that 90% of the time they are rolled too tight and don't
draw well. That was not the case with this particular
stick. This drew nice and easy, and when you can get smoke
out of these babies, you got yourself one of the best
cigars in the world.
These things are strong right from the beginning, not
harsh, but this ain't no "lite". The burn is
always nice and even, with a good solid ash, not a surprise
as tight as these things are. I can't say it tastes like
leather or coffee or anything like that. It's just pure
tobacco flavor. Worth smoking, but I've had more that
were too tight than drew well, in just about the same
price range, I'd go with the Monte #2.
